Siobhain tables amendment on behalf of Temporary Accommodation group

Earlier this month, Siobhain tabled an amendment to the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, seeking to create a notification system requiring local authorities to alert schools and GPs when a child is placed into temporary accommodation.

The amendment, tabled on behalf on the All Party Parliamentary Group for Temporary Accommodation, received cross-party support with 36 supporting signatures from Labour and Lib Dem MPs.

Having met with the Minister for Children and Families Janet Daby, Siobhain was assured that while the Government felt unable to accept this amendment, they were supportive of our notification system proposal and would work across departments to investigate implementing it.
