Every year I offer work experience placements to around twenty residents of Mitcham and Morden.  I believe that a placement in an MPs office gives young people an insight into local politics and a chance to boost their skills. Students will be able to help with tasks including policy research, understanding casework, attending debates and meetings and accompanying me to my weekly advice surgery.

If you would like to apply for work experience – I offer placements throughout the year which are allocated in order of application.  Unfortunately, I receive more requests than I can meet, and preference is always given to people who live in Mitcham and Morden.

Work experience is generally for one week and is split between my office in Westminster and my constituency office in Morden.  I can offer a shorter period if requested.

I can only take one student per week, and the placements are popular so please apply as early you can, noting that that mid-July is the most popular period.  By providing second and third dates of your availability it will help me identify any other spaces I may be able to offer you.

All visitors to the Parliamentary estate require a security check and this takes approximately four weeks to complete.  It is therefore not possible for me to be able to accept short notice applications.
