Siobhain meets with Health Minister to discuss keeping services at St Helier Hospital
In January Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, announced plans for a new Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Sutton through the New Hospital Programme, with building set to start in 2033.
In response to the announcement, Siobhain met with Health Minister Karin Smyth to make the case for retaining services at St Helier Hospital. Siobhain’s mission is clear: to keep services at St Helier Hospital, where residents need them most, and for any new hospital to be built on the existing site.
While the Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to building a new hospital in Belmont, she agreed to continuing the conversation and to working with Siobhain to ensure people who rely on services at St Helier Hospital are not left behind.
