Siobhain launches new campaign calling for notification system
Siobhain has served as Chair of the APPG for Temporary Accommodation since its formation.
Earlier this year, the APPG released a shocking report revealing that 74 children died with temporary accommodation listed as a contributing factor to their death in just five years. Of these 74 children, 58 were under the age of one.
Following the release of their report, Siobhain and the APPG have now launched the SAFE campaign, aiming to improve collaboration between local authorities and their support services when a homeless household is placed in temporary accommodation.
In March, Siobhain tabled an Amendment to the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill seeking to implement this notification system. The Amendment received widespread, cross-party support, with the Government also offering their support for the initiative, committing to working across departments to implement the system.
