Siobhain joins the Shared Health Foundation to address temporary accommodation
Siobhain joined an expert panel including Dr Laura Neilson, Dame Rachel De Souza, Councillor Bev Craig and Councillor Louise Brett
Siobhain McDonagh joined the Shared Health Foundation’s fringe event at this year’s Labour Party Conference to discuss the impact of temporary accommodation on children’s lives.
The panel, which also included Shared Health Foundation CEO Dr Laura Neilson, Dame Rachel de Souza, Councillor Bev Craig and Councillor Louise Brett, explored both short and long-term solutions to tackle the housing crisis.
Siobhain spoke about the need for government, councils and schools to work together - ensuring that housing, health and education are treated as one issue, not three separate challenges.
The Shared Health Foundation’s latest report, Children Living in Temporary Accommodation: An Absolute Scandal, reveals that temporary accommodation can breach thirteen articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Siobhain continues to campaign for higher standards and stronger accountability in temporary accommodation across the country.
