Siobhain hosts Glioblastoma Fringe Meeting at Labour Party Conference

Siobhain welcomed a full house at her fringe meeting

On Monday at Labour Party Conference, Siobhain hosted her Margaret’s Final Campaign fringe meeting: On the Cusp of a Cure for Glioblastoma Brain Tumours.

The event was packed, with colleagues, campaigners, patients and experts coming together to discuss the reality of glioblastoma, the progress of the new trial launched in her sister Margaret’s memory, and the mission to find a cure. The discussion also focused on the vital role MPs can play in Westminster to push forward research and access to treatment.

Siobhain was joined by an outstanding panel of speakers:

  • Dr Zubir Ahmed MP, Health Minister with responsibility for life sciences, who set out his priorities in his new role and personal connection to glioblastoma

  • Dr Scott Arthur MP, who spoke about his Private Member’s Bill on rare cancers

  • Dr Diego Ottaviani, Consultant in Medical Oncology, providing a full update on Margaret’s Trial

  • Sara Sjölund, patient and filmmaker, who gave a moving account of her own journey with a brain tumour

  • Hatice Beton, Executive Director of the G20 & G7 Health and Development Partnership, who shared insights on international collaboration

Their contributions and support ensure that Margaret’s Final Campaign continues to build momentum for faster research, fairer access to treatment, and a future where families affected by glioblastoma have real hope of a cure.
