Siobhain launches official appeal to LINK for a new Banking Hub in Mitcham
On Wednesday, 22nd October, Siobhain McDonagh MP launched her official appeal to LINK for a new Banking Hub in Mitcham.
Lloyds Bank in Mitcham is due to close in January 2026. As our last remaining bank, this is desperately disappointing news for local people and businesses who rely on in-person banking.
In its place, Siobhain is campaigning for a Banking Hub to be established in Mitcham – a shared space offering banking services from all major banks, open five days a week. Without it, residents will have to travel to Tooting to access their nearest full-service branch.
Following LINK’s decision not to recommend Mitcham for a Banking Hub, Siobhain has submitted her official appeal, highlighting two critical errors in their Cash Access Assessment – including inaccurate journey-time data and the inaccessibility of the Langdale Parade Post Office.
