LINK join Siobhain in Mitcham for new Banking Hub assessment

On Thursday 13th November, LINK’s CEO, John Howells, came to Mitcham to take the 270 bus with Siobhain to Tooting.

This follows Siobhain’s appeal to LINK, flagging that Mitcham would be a perfect fit for a banking hub, and that LINK’s original assessment incorrectly cited a 14 minute bus journey to the nearest full-service bank in Tooting.

Siobhain invited local residents from Mitcham to join them for coffee, and share their experience of the commute to Tooting, and the need for access to cash in the area.

They then took the 270 bus, a journey which took well over the needed 15 minutes, at 18 minutes and 9 seconds.

LINK will now review their decision, and should they agree that Mitcham needs a Banking Hub, Mitcham will get a shared space offering banking services from all major banks, open five days a week.
