Siobhain goes to the Commons to debate Research and Treatment of Brain Tumours

To kickstart March, Siobhain applied for a Backbench Business Debate on the ‘Research and Treatment of Brain Tumours’.

Applications go to the Backbench Business Committee, who can assign time for a debate in the Chamber or Westminster Hall, to be led by backbench MPs.

Originally designed to fall in Brain Tumour Awareness Month (March), this debate would recognise the impact of brain tumours as the biggest cancer killer of under 40s, the lack of progress in the treatment of brain tumours, and question the inaction of the NIHR in funding brain tumour research, despite £40 million being ringfenced for this purpose following the death of the late Tessa Jowell.

Siobhain’s application – which was co-led by Charlie Maynard MP and signed by 34 MPs across the House – was successful, and the Committee will soon come back with a date for our debate.

There will be an update once further news is available.
