As you may know, there was a fire that took place next to the flats on Garth Road and Beaver Close in the early hours of the morning on Saturday 20th July.
I want to thank Merton Council, the Environment Agency and the Fire Services for all of the hard work fighting the fire and supporting residents whilst the work was being undertaken.
Alongside, Lower Morden Councillors Sally Kenny and James Williscroft, we were on site on the day to check that everyone displaced was ok. We also knocked on the doors of the residents on Beavers Close on Sunday.
I have written to Chief Executives of SUEZ Waste Station, Merton Council, and L&Q Housing Association to ask about:
*Smoke alarms and a sprinkler system
* Support for traumatised families
* Investigating the cause of the fire
*If the waste station will be allowed to remain on its’ current site
