NEW LATERAL FLOW TESTS
Dear Resident,
I am writing to let you know that Lateral Flow Tests (Rapid Tests) are
now available in Mitcham and Morden to those who have no coronavirus
symptoms.
Rapid Testing, also known as lateral flow tests are now being offered
in Mitcham and Morden and across Merton as a whole. Lateral flow tests
are fast, easy tests that can detect the presence (or absence) of
coronavirus amongst people who are asymptomatic (do not have
coronavirus symptoms). It is a targeted and purposeful programme, which
aims to compliment the national testing strategy.
Lateral flow testing is vital to stopping the spread of the virus due
to the fact that 1 in 3 individuals with COVID-19 do not have any
symptoms. As a result, rapid testing can help identify those people who
are infected and potentially infectious, but asymptomatic and unaware
that they might be spreading the virus.
Lateral Flow tests will be available separately depending on a number
of factors.
If you are a key worker, work in the voluntary and Community Sector,
are a volunteer or carer, both formal and informal then you will be
able to access a lateral flow test from a local community pharmacy. You
can do this by visiting the following link and booking a test:
https://www.merton.gov.uk/coronavirus/lateral-flow-test
All those who are eligible to receive a test from a community
pharmacy are able to access two tests per week.
The community pharmacies that are currently offering lateral flow tests
are:
Abbey Pharmacy, 12a Abbey Parade, SW19 1DG
Barkers Chemist, 80 Coombe Lane, SW20 0AX
Harland Chemist, 58 Central Road, SM4 5RP
Haria Pharmacy, 356-358 Coombe Lane, SW20 0RJ
Lords Pharmacy (Merton Park), 297 Kingston
Road, SW20 8LB
Nelson Pharmacy, 220 Kingston Road, SW20 8DA
Wimbledon Pharmacy, 80 High Street, SW19 5EG
For all other residents, tests will be accessible from the Morden
Assembly Hall on Tudor Drive, SM4 4PJ. You can book a
test by visiting this link: https://www.merton.gov.uk/coronavirus/lateral-flow-test.
If you are a resident and are having a test at Morden Assembly
Hall, you are able to receive two tests within the space of six weeks.
Please DO NOT attend a lateral
flow test either at a community pharmacy or at the Morden Assembly
Hall if you have any coronavirus symptoms. Lateral flow tests
are exclusively available to those who do not have any symptoms.
I hope you will take advantage of this
unique opportunity and sign up for a lateral flow test, whether you are
a key worker or not. You can book a test by visiting this link: https://www.merton.gov.uk/coronavirus/lateral-flow-test
With very best wishes,
