Save St Helier Hospital Campaign
This summer NHS Managers have been looking at plans for the future of healthcare in our area, and are consulting local people on whether to combine the two district hospitals, St Helier and Epsom, on a single site.
The Conservatives' Health Spokesperson in the House of Commons has produced a document called 'The Case for Epsom'. In it, he says that 'there is an overwhelming case for the final site chosen to be Epsom'.
I am determined that St Helier Hospital should not be closed or lose any of its key services to Epsom. Everyone knows that the area's greatest health needs are in places like St Helier, Mitcham and Morden, and we need to keep a dedicated centre for healthcare here. That is why I am asking you to do all that you can to support our local hospital.
Earlier this year, I produced a petition, which now has more than five thousand signatures, but because of this new threat from the Conservatives' Health Spokesperson, I have also launched a letter and email writing campaign. I think that it is vital to remind local health chiefs how important St Helier is to us, and it would be extremely helpful if you could take part.
To sign up, please fill in the details below. If you have a friend, neighbour or family member who would like to join the campaign please let me have their email address, and I will let them know about it. Obviously, you are very welcome to write your own email - personal emails can be very effective in campaigns like this [link removed].
I will make sure that health chiefs at Epsom and St Helier Trust have details of everyone who supports the campaign. I will also send a copy to John Reid MP, the Secretary of State for Health. I will be seeing him soon, and this will help me demonstrate to him the strength of feeling among local people about this. Let's keep up the pressure!
