Coronavirus testing
There are two types of coronavirus tests – PCR and lateral
flow. Both are free!
PCR Tests
A free PCR test should be taken if you have symptoms of the
virus (currently described as a high temperature, a new, continuous cough,
you’ve lost your sense of smell or taste or they’ve changed).
You can order one
by calling 119 or by visiting https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
The test involves a swab of the throat and nose and you can either order a test
to be delivered at home or you can book a time at a local walk in test centre
where staff will be on hand to answer any questions.
Lateral Flow Tests
Lateral flow tests are for you to take at home. They are for
anyone without symptoms. The test is similar but you receive the results within
30 minutes at home.
To order a free box of lateral flow test kits please visit https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests or pop down to your local pharmacy or chemist.
It is important to continue to test regularly, particularly
with coronavirus case numbers so high. Doing so helps to protect you. your loved ones and your local community.
